How our life similar to card game?

I always love card games. From the childhood, when I played a simple games with family and friends, till now, when I play “The Elder Scrolls: Legends” almost everyday.

Combination of thinking and luck always attracted me. What next card will come to your hand? How can you combine it with your cards?

Some people compare our life with chess, and there also many similarities can be found. But for me starting position in chess — where both players has the same figures (only with different colors) is the main difference between them and real life.

People are not equal from the beginning. We have different starting positions — health, parents, wealth, hobbies, skills, etc. All it combines in a unique blend called Life.

As in life , everybody has they own cards in hand — unique set of skills, abilities and friends. All of it you using to live your life and achieve your targets.

Importance of making right moves.

To have a good cards in hand is not always enough. It’s important to know when it’s the best time to use it.

In the article All Billionaires Have Lucky Advantages You Rarely Notice author David O. describes 7 advantages of billionaires — extremely success people. Here’s a few of them — location, partner, and — most important — Timing.

One of the definitions of success is being in the right place at the right time. The right place is the right location. The right time is something no one can calculate.

This is completely the same in cards — put the right cards in the right move!

And no one can calculate is it the best move before you make the move. Will it be good client, or job, or girlfriend? Or it would be better to wait for another move and put your best cards on the table next time? It’s sometimes hard to answer.

Who is your rival?

Against whom you play? Against the world! Your living is a lifelong battle with others. Every time when you use your ability there’s always a rivals around you, even if you don’t know about it. Let’s say you want to have a new job, there’s a lot other people who want the same and all of you make a move — send a CV with the cards — skills, match history — working experience, rank — your current position. In case that your skills is better, which means the cards is better, chances are that you win is higher.

In side hustle sites, such as UpWork it’s even more straightforward as you usually have your own rank there, your match history and put your cards in your profile and portfolio and send it to the possible client as a move. Client judge your move against other’s players moves and make a decision who is winner.

Winning strategies

Cards is your abilities and skills, deck is life which give you an opportunity to use your ability — make a move. The more abilities and skills you have, the more possible strategies you can use.

The more you learn — the more cards in your deck. For the first time you have “normal” skill. If you add more effort you can have some “rare” ability. And, if you will became one of the best in some area, you will have a “legendary” card. In card game like “Legends” one “legendary” card can turn the table, so in real life too, your unique ability can help you win.

And as in cards, synergy of of few abilities of cards multiply their power and can create a winning combination, in life unique combination of skills also creates a powerful combo which can help you win.

Thomas Oppong in the article “The Polymath Advantage: People Who Have “Multiple Skills” Are More Likely to be Successful” wrote:

Range over mastery — people who embrace diverse skills, experiences and perspectives will increasingly thrive

So, create your unique deck of skills with your unique combinations and go conquer the world! The better deck you have, the smarter and luckier move you make — the more chances that you will win the match and gain level-up. In the card game named Life.
